Should You Choose to Accept It...

The Southern Barbecue Co. Mission

We hope you'll join us, and find it to be a good time.

The "Co." thing

What does the Co. stand for?

In short, I came up with the Southern Barbecue Co. brand (and domains) many years ago, as part of dreaming of my own aspirations for once I hit the lottery. However, I couldn't decide whether that was in the shape of a company that provided services, a community connection, or even a broader effort to open-source barbecue's deepest historical secrets, too-long held in secular exclusivities of regions or cultures.

When I decided to start this project and it was time to decide what the Co. in Southern Barbecue Co. actually stood for, I punted, and went with D. D?

D, all of the above. - Shock G

And so it became a grouping convention of my aggregate design. Therefore:

Co. is Company.

We will have select offerings from well-vetted providers, makers and manufacturers within the space, all vouched for by So.'Cue Co. -- for what that's worth -- and those that have stronger credentials in our world.

Co. is for Collective.

We will provide the best possible experiences we can build for sharing, discovering, and using barbecue recipes, methods and gear. And these will come from both respected (and sometimes not respected enough) Pit Masters and the community itself, themselves full of barbecue cooks and enthusiasts far more interesting, capable, and knowledgeable than myself.

Co. is for Conversation.

As stated above, we want to foster valuable conversations and contributions from the community. The barbecue culture at-large is its greatest resource, and we hope to enable a small part of its voice and capture its rich roots and enthusiasm here. We want to talk about and read about all the smokey thoughts of our members, in a way that remains respectful and contributory in its nature. The best conversations happen around the pit, the grill, or the fire, don't they?

Co. is for Country.

If you're not cooking, the next best thing is being on the lookout for great places to try greater barbecue. This is a place to expose and appreciate our favorite barbecue restaurants, pop-ups, trucks, and pits, wherever you may roam.
