The Standard in Western NC "Lexington-Style" Barbecue
If you want to taste a (brown) bit of barbecue history, this is as good a place to do it as any.
I first ate here as a a child with my grandparents -- members of The Greatest Generation that had grown up eating the Monk's delicious pork shoulder barbecue, smoked in their traditional vertical brick pits. It was, and is now a friendly, affordable, no frills, joint off the local by-way, and, other than the by-way itself, Lexington Barbecue hasn't changed much in decades. And that's a good thing.
